Sunday June 5th Day Trip to Coventry
Members and friends left Shrewsbury at 9.00 to travel to Coventry. Arriving soon after 10.30 the day was left free to explore the City .
It was fortunate that we had chosen the day of “Motor Fest”with lots of old cars on display around the city. The sun shone and the city was full of vehicles some old and some new
This brought back lots of memories for old cars previously owned. Many conversations as to their performance and special outings were thoroughly discussed
The Motor Museum was visited by just about everyone.
This entirely free museum exhibits started with transport options before motor cars and as you progressed through all the sections to the very latest Jaguars. We all remembered Hillman Minx, Singer Gazelle,Triumph Herald, The Mini, so revolutionary at the time.

Many of us spent time visiting both the old and new cathedrals. The old cathedral which stands proud above the new cathedral, was destroyed by incendiary bombs in World War 11.
The new Cathedral with the stained glass wall by Patrick Rentyiens is certainly worth the admittance charge. A group of us took a guided tour which really helped us to understand the building. We were lucky to have a visiting organist and choir rehearse while on our tour which added to the atmosphere.
The day ended with a very good carvery meal at Madeley. We returned to Shrewsbury around 8.00pm ending a great day out.
