Forty three members and friends enjoyed a great day out visiting this splendid house and extensive grounds.
Beautiful paintings and art
The house is full of beautiful paintings, furniture and ceramics. The present Duke is keen to encourage the craftsman of today and the wall of the family’s DNA profile in ceramic blocks was of particular interest.
While walking in the grounds the sound of the brass band encouraged you to stand and listen before taking in the fountain and water cascade. Many modern metal sculptures were to be seen such as a very large fork and upturned umbrellas all in different shades.
The return journey took us back through some wonderful scenery through Derbyshire before an excellent carvery meal at “The Red House” Lilleshall.
